Curtis Appel, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at Montefiore Einstein. He is a seasoned Ob-Gyn physician with excellent diagnostic and surgical skills. Dr. Appel provides the full range of general ob-gyn care in a patient-centric manner and is especially interested in office procedures and organizing systems to make patient care more efficient and valuable to the patient experience. He is also motivated to provide care to disadvantaged populations.After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1976, Dr. Appel earned his Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University in 1980. He then completed an internship and residency in obstetrics & gynecology at Brookdale Hospital Medical center in 1984.Dr. Appel is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has a track record of compassionate patient care and excellence in resident teaching, and residents in 2 separate settings awarded him Teacher of the Year. Dr. Appel has served on multiple committees, including quality assurance, credentials and physician advisory.
