- Primary CareThe radiologists who interpret your images are members of Spectrum Medical Group. They will analyze the images and send a signed report to your referring physician and/or primary care physician. If a follow up mammogram is not necessary, a letter will be sent to you in the mail stating your recent mammogram examination was normal/benign and it is appropriate for you to return for your annual screening the following year.
- ImmunizationsCoastal Women's Healthcare stands with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), society of MFM, and the CDC in recommending COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy and lactation. - Laser Eye SurgeryAlthough safe for most individuals, if you have a current respiratiory infection, COPD, COVID-19, recent ear or eye surgery, or are unable to hold your own face mask, then nitrous oxide would not be a good choice. Please discuss an alternative with your provider.

- AutismThis is a diagnostic procedure performed at Maine Medical Center's Maternal Fetal Medicine between 15 and 20 weeks of pregnancy to detect birth defects. A needle is inserted through the abdomen to take a sample of the fluid surrounding baby (amniotic fluid). This sample contains chromosomes and other materials that are used to diagnose chromosomal abnormalities, genetic birth defects, and open neural tube defects. Amniocentesis cannot detect autism, cleft lip, and most heart defects. This is an invasive test, and risks include cramping, bleeding, infection, and very rarely miscarriage. Preliminary results may be available within 24 to 48 hours; final results are available within 10 to 14 days.
- Mental HealthIf you think you may have Postpartum or Perinatal Depression please seek professional help. Your healthcare provider can refer you to a mental health professional who has experience with PPD. The two main types of treatment are talk therapy and medication. For moderate to severe depression, medication is often needed along with talk therapy. There are significant risks to you and your baby if this is left untreated.

- X-Rays
- MammographyScreening mammograms are utilized to check for breast cancer in women who have no signs or symptoms of the disease. These appointments are available during regular office hours. During a routine screening mammogram, two to three views will be taken of each breast. You will stand in front of the digital mammography unit and the mammographer will position your breast on the image receptor. The compression paddle will come down slowly on top of your breast, spreading out the tissue. This allows the technologist to obtain a clear picture of your breast using a low dose of radiation. You will only be compressed for a few seconds and the mammographer will work to ease any discomfort you may have. You may receive a phone call requesting additional images from your screening mammogram, it does not mean you have breast cancer. It only means that the radiologist would like further imaging to evaluate a specific area within your breast.
