General Info

WJCL-TV signed on the air in 1970. Owned by former Savannah, Ga., Mayor J. Curtis Lewis, WJCL marked many firsts. At that time, WJCL built the tallest tower in the market, nearly 1,500 feet tall. Color film and videotape were introduced to the Savannah market by WJCL, and it was the first station in the market to televise a live event - President Nixon's trip to Skidaway Island. We also pioneered the live broadcasting of sporting events, parades and telethons. WJCL also was the first station to broadcast in stereo. In the late 1990s, Lewis decided to divest his media interests and sold the radio stations. In 1999, WJCL was sold to Grapevine Communications, which has since merged with Piedmont Television. Since 1999, more than $1 million has been invested behind the scenes at WJCL to upgrade the product.

Finally two new women on morning show today - I usually change the channel when Jessica Kiss & Jennifer Andrews come on. They are awful. Ladies today were classy & had great speaking voices & weren't boring. CongratulationsWJCL!!!
