Not sure if they were having a bad day or what, but my experience at Love Bites Cafe was a memorably bad one - mainly to do with the disposition of the woman who brought my friend and me our meal. The cup that I had been given for my tea was dirty (no big deal); I asked for a clean cup, and was given another not-so-clean cup. Rather than make more of a 'thing' out of it, I went ahead and ate my food - I figured I'd just forego the tea. However, the level of attitude that was then directed at me and my friend for the duration of our meal made us suspect a hostility (from the staff) that had little to do with sending back a dirty cup. Was it race, perceived sexuality, personality? Not sure, but it felt like all those were factors. Whatever the back-story was, we were made to feel pointedly unwelcome. To top it off, I got sick from the food! For all of its casual, relaxed presentation, this cafe was more wounding bites than love. Don't put yourself at risk, avoid this one.

Don't let the diminutive size fool you. This little breakfast/lunch restaurant serves top notch food. Caeser salad was divine, as were a Smoked Salmon Pannini and Crab Cakes Benedict with lime-cilantro Hollandaise sauce. Really, really special food and lovely, attentive service. What a find! No liquor license yet and they're only open daytimes for now (closed Wednesday), but lunch there today was one of the finest meals I've eaten in years! Go shopping in the village, have lunch at Love Bites and make it a great day out.
