Soordal and Shanthi Prakash went on to open their private practice in 2002. Dr. Prakash holds privileges at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospital; she is also a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Florida State University College of Medicine. Dr. Prakash has been named a Castle Connelly Top Doctor since 2015 and is also an awardee of the Exceptional Women in Medicine award in 2020 and 2021.

  My daughter took a urine test in yesterday. The office evaluated that I do indeed have as UTI but I was disappointed I had to wait until Dr called me to have a prescription called into Walgreens at 7pm. I wish she could have delegated a nurse practitioner to go ahead and call in the prescription. She could certainly still call me at the end of day. Not complaining was just surprised this is her policy.

  Rashmi Prakash, MD was born in India and raised in England, New Jersey, and finally Sarasota, Florida. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of South Florida, where she studied Biomedical Sciences and Behavioral Health. She then went on to complete her medical education at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine, choosing to do her clinical rotations in Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY, where she worked with diverse patient populations. Dr. Prakash completed her Family Medicine Residency at Humboldt Park Health Hospital in Chicago, Illinois where she served as Chief Resident. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and holds admitting privileges at Sarasota Memorial Hospital – both Sarasota and Venice Campuses as well as Doctors Hospital. She is happy to be back in sunny Sarasota close to family, along with her husband Wien Chan, MD and daughter.

  To pursue additional surgical training, Dr. Prakash moved to the United Kingdom. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, training in plastic and hand surgery. Dr. Prakash then relocated to the United States and pursued a surgical residency for one year at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in Manhattan.

It was a pleasurable experience on every level delivered to me by Maggie, who I had the pleasure of meeting when I tried my first FRAXEL LASER TREATMENT EVER…I was quite nervous but she took her time- using numbing cream and an ice roller to continually cool my skin as she migrated over each area…continually asking me are you ok? how are you doing? let me know if you’re uncomfortable. She was ultra-professional and so kind to follow up with me during the downtime. The experience was so relaxing. My skin feels and looks so clean and renewed!
