Acupuncture & TCM

• The traditional Chinese practice of acupuncture aligns the flow of energy channels or meridians to address a wide variety of common ailments and problems. Acupuncture is effective in treating anxiety, stress and fatigue; managing chronic pain and even aiding fertility! Acupuncture dates back over 3,000 years. The basis of acupuncture works with energy of the body, called Qi. Qi flows through the body along channels or meridians that are similar to small rivers. All of the meridians interconnect with one another. Each meridian correlates with an organ of the body. For example, there is a lung channel, heart channel, kidney channel etc. There are 14 main channels of the body, most of which flow bilaterally or the right and left side of the body. Acupuncture points are specific points on the meridians where the flow of Qi is stimulated with acupuncture needles. When there is an imbalance in the body, whether physical, mental, or emotional, there is an imbalance in the flow of Qi. The proper flow of Qi can be restored by using needles in specific points that have a specific job to do. It is the practitioner's job to figure out what points to use by examining the patient, asking questions, taking the pulse and looking at your tongue. These are all diagnostic tools that are used to determine the best course of treatment. Depending on what the issue is, the amount of treatments can vary. Sometimes results are seen very quickly and other times, for more chronic conditions it may take many more. Often treatments are combined with Chinese herbs or massage to achieve optimum results. Don't worry, acupuncture doesn't hurt! The needles are as thin as a human hair. And, once the needles are in they stay in for 20 minutes to half an hour. The patient may feel a heavy sensation or tingling, which is good as these are both signs that Qi is moving. After the needles are removed, most people feel relaxed, centered with many reporting an enhanced sense of well-being.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

• Cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural skin rejuvenation technique based on traditional Chinese medicine that stimulates the body's healing energies and increases circulation to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Cosmetic Acupuncture is now a well-established anti-aging treatment with many thousands of treatments being performed across the world, every day.
• How does it work?
  Acupuncture restores health by regulating the flow of Qi or energy throughout the body. As we age, Qi flow decreases contributing to aging of the face and skin. Cosmetic acupuncture uses very tiny acupuncture needles to specific acupuncture points on the face. These needles are inserted shallow to the dermal layer of the skin restoring the flow of Qi. Qi is our life force and when Qi is bought to the face in this way, blood flow and cellular communication increases to produce more collagen, decreasing fine lines, wrinkles and increasing elasticity. Some body points are used as well for balance of the flow of Qi. This treatment series also helps to relieve severe headaches, decrease hot flashes and reduce neck pain.

• Abdominal Firming Acupuncture
  Similar to Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture, this treatment instead focuses on the abdomen. There are many acupuncture channels on the abdomen. Using tiny acupuncture needles inserted in acupuncture points to the dermal layer of the skin, Qi flow increases blood flow and cellular communication, enhancing firmness and tightness. Wrinkles on the abdomen may decrease as well. This protocol is a series and uses some body points for the balance of Qi. This protocol has also been shown to help with digestive and OBGYN issues.

• Anti-Aging Injection Therapy
  Cosmetic acupuncture injectables are becoming increasingly popular, not only as a great anti-aging treatment, but also as an alternative to botox. Using natural, homeopathic remedies of amino acids and collagen, a certified acupuncturist injects them into acupuncture points on the face at the dermal layer. These acupuncture points are a source of Qi that decreases with aging. By injecting the points using a tiny insulin size needle with the remedy, Qi is amplified, causing cellular restoration with increased collagen production, reducing lines and wrinkles with improved elasticity.
