- Emergency CareDr. Stein graduated with honors from the University of Indiana with a double major in chemistry and biology before entering the university’s medical school for his M.D. degree, also with honors. After internships at Denver Presbyterian Medical Center in surgery and Brookhaven Hospital in Dallas as an emergency room physician, he went on to serve his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of California, Irvine.

Axelrad is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who earned both his MD degree and a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He then relocated for his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at Boston University Medical Center, followed by fellowship training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

- Hand SurgeryDr. Mintalucci directs the Hand Center at SRO, has published multiple articles on highly specialized hand surgery topics, has authored a textbook chapter, conducted research and presented his findings at multiple professional conferences. He has practiced and taught the most advanced and specialized surgical techniques, including arthroscopic, mini-open, and percutaneous approaches that minimize incisions, reduce post-surgical pain and promote faster healing.

- Knee ReplacementDr. Thomas Degenhardt’s career as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon has been highlighted by his prominent role in the development and practice of sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery and joint reconstruction of the knee. He serves as co-director of The Sports Medicine Center at SRO and has extensive experience in complex reconstructive procedures of the knee, including articular cartilage regeneration and transfer techniques, multiple ligament reconstructions, and primary and revision knee replacement.
- Reconstructive SurgeryDr. Gary Stein is a board-certified specialist in orthopedic surgery, adult reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, hand and back care. A pioneer in developing minimally invasive techniques for hip and knee replacement surgery, he is co-director of the Sports Medicine Center at SRO and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
- Sports MedicineDr. Mark Schakel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who directs the Foot and Ankle program at SRO and the Foot and Ankle Trauma Service at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. As one of the few fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons in the northern coastal counties, he treats patients of all ages for conditions including trauma, congenital anomalies, sports injuries and more.
- Physical TherapyAanal graduated in 2008 from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India with a Bachelors of Physical Therapy degree. After graduation, she worked for a few years as a Lead Physical Therapist in a multispeciality hospital and at an outpatient clinic before moving to the USA in 2012. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northeastern University in 2016.
- Occupational TherapyRena Ribeiro completed her undergraduate through SRJC, College of Marin, and SFSU with her B.A. in Psychology. She continued her education and graduated from Dominican University of California with her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2022. Her final rotation was completed in outpatient hand therapy at Kentfield Hospital which inspired her to work in the specialty. Rena Ribeiro is a new addition to the OT team working towards attaining her CHT title under mentorship of Anna Coopersmith OTR/L, CHT. She is driven to develop her skills and further her education of upper extremity diagnoses.
