Santa Cruz County is 445 square miles and home to 272,000 residents, about half of whom live in unincorporated areas served by the Sheriff's Office including Aptos, Ben Lomond, Bonny Doon, Boulder Creek, Brookdale, Corralitos, Davenport, Felton, Freedom, La Selva Beach, Rio Del Mar, Soquel, and Zayante. Santa Cruz County’s popularity as a cultural hub, tourist destination, and agricultural center continues to grow. UC Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College and several marine research facilities support dynamic learning opportunities. In addition to its mild climate and natural beauty, county attractions include 29 miles of accessible beaches, 22 state parks and redwood forests, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and Roaring Camp Railroad.
