Monroe Elementary School enrolls students in kindergarten grade through six and offers a variety of educational opportunities for the physical, emotional and mental development of students. It is a California distinguished school that was founded in 1958 and is located on a more than 9-acre site. The school offers the Project Read, a multisensory, structured language arts program, which supports the established reading program and provides a consistent approach to phonics and written language teaching. Its student assistant program provides job training to students. The school has an automated library that contains more than 10,000 books, periodicals and other reference materials. It additionally offers an after-school enrichment program. Administered by the Santa Barbara School Districts, Monroe Elementary School is located in Santa Barbara, Calif.
