- OrthopedicsDr. Behrman has served as the Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at St. Francis Medical Center and the Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. In 2008, he served as the Honorary Medical Chair for the Santa Barbara Arthritis Walk. He is currently on the Board of the Santa Barbara chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. He is a past board member of the Environmental Defense Center. Dr. Behrman also works as a team physician for the U.S. Olympic/World Cup Ski Team.
- ArthroscopyDr. Behrman has presented papers to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the North American Arthroscopy Association. He has been published in the Journal of Hand Surgery, Clinical Orthopedics, Journal of Orthopedic Trauma and the Journal of Microsurgery.

- Hand SurgeryMichael J. Behrman, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He also holds a certificate of added Qualification in Hand Surgery and is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. An honors graduate of Williams College, he received his medical training at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic training at New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Behrman has done specialty training in hand and microvascular surgery with James Hunter, M.D. and Lawrence Schneider, M.D. at the Hand Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- Orthopedic SurgeryRobert M. Ruth. M.D. earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School after majoring in biology at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency training, with patient care and teaching honors, as a Chief Orthopedic Surgery Resident at the University of Massachusetts. He then pursued additional specialized hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery training, including microvascular surgery, in a fellowship program at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Ruth then practiced Orthopedic Surgery in his home state of Pennsylvania for seven years, before choosing to relocate to Santa Barbara.
