- CryotherapyOccasionally when the vitreous gel separates from the retina, it will pull on the retina, causing a retinal tear. Retinal tears can lead to a retinal detachment if fluid passes under the tear and separates the retina from the wall of the eye. Retinal tears can often be treated in the office with laser or cryotherapy (freezing).
- Primary CareAs retinal vein occlusions are typically associated with high cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure, monitoring and treating these medical conditions are important in those patients with venous occlusive disease. Thus, following up with your primary care doctor is imperative.
- High Cholesterol
- GlaucomaEyes with retinal venous occlusive disease may develop macular edema (retinal swelling), or growths of fragile, abnormal blood vessels on the retina’s surface. These growths can cause bleeding into the vitreous gel. This bleeding is typically associated with the sudden appearance of floaters or severe loss of vision.  Patients with central retinal vein occlusions may also develop abnormal blood vessels on the iris. These blood vessels can cause a severe form of glaucoma known as neovascular glaucoma.

- Laser Eye SurgeryA retinal detachment is more noticeable and severe. It is when the retina is completely separated from the rest of the eye, resulting in severely compromised vision. If it is not immediately treated, it can advance quickly and can lead to permanently affected vision. However, surgical procedures can treat retinal detachments so that vision is restored. Eye surgery must be done in the early stages of a retinal detachment to have the highest chances of success. Talk to a trusted eye doctor who has a record of successful surgeries for patients with retinal tears or detachments.  Â
- CataractsIf you have a cloudy vision and have trouble focusing on objects, it may be a sign that you have cataracts. You can only find out if you have cataracts if you are diagnosed by an eye doctor.Â
- Cataract SurgeryYou may be a good candidate to undergo cataract surgery if you have a mild case. An eye doctor evaluates your medical history, current medical conditions, and the stage your disease is in to determine whether surgery is appropriate. For people who have an early stage of cataracts, they may not need to have surgery until their condition progresses to a more advanced stage. A doctor may recommend non-surgical treatment options such as special lenses for people with mild cataracts. To find out more about whether or not you can receive cataract surgery, consult with an eye surgeon to discuss your treatment options.Â

- Diabetic RetinopathyIf you have diabetic retinopathy, you should speak with Santa Ana retina consultants. The eye condition is common among diabetic patients and results when high blood sugar levels damage blood vessels in the retina. Patients with diabetic retinopathy may experience blurry vision, floaters and poor night vision.
- UltrasoundThe actual procedure time is between 15 and 30 minutes. The clouded lens is removed using a high-frequency ultrasound device that uses vibrational force to break up the clouded lens into smaller, extractable fragments. This process is called phacoemulsification, or “phaco†for short. Once the clouded lens has been removed, it is replaced with a synthetic intraocular lens, with specific parameters based on the diagnostic results from the pre-operative eye exam.
