- Door Installation/ReplacementDoor and Window openings should not be cut any closer than 36" from an adjoining wall centerline to the nearest side of the opening. This allows for the proper trimming of the window openings without cutting into the scarfing of the logs at the notches and also allows us to place a thorough-bolt between the window and the notch if required.
- FramingSettling allowances will need to be made for plumbing, electrical interior framing, masonry and door and window openings.
- Tile Installation
- FireplacesObviously, the cost can increase above this amount when other amenities such as extensive stonework, multiple fireplaces, large decks, custom tile, granite and marble are added. As the quality of fixtures and amenities is upgraded, the costs go up.

- LandscapingDescription - This home is quite hard to describe. It is a unique home with many special features. The main floor has the living room/dining room area, kitchen, master suite, sewing room, laundry, and a large office. There is a glass, quarter circle atrium breakfast area with an indoor barbeque. The main entrance is under the covered front porch, a large south deck with a hot tub and the rear deck has an outdoor barbeque. The second floor has a loft, bath and three bedrooms. The basement houses a family/game room, storage, mechanical area, bath and a two car garage with lots of storage. This home is the most beautifully finished home that we have been a part of building. The owners acted as their own general contractors. The husband then took on the landscaping outside and the wife, who owns an antiques store (and it shows!), did the interior decorating. This house is one that really has to be seen to be appreciated.
- DrivewaysThe cost of utilities is also a consideration when there are deep wells to be drilled or long runs for power, telephone and driveways are called for. A steep site or confined homesite can also adds to the cost of construction.
- Window Installation/ReplacementIf you choose to finish your own log home, we can supply many of the needed materials at quality competitive rates. Some of the materials we can supply include high quality doors & windows, cabinets, interior and exterior log finish products, and plumbing settling devices. In addition to design, log work and general contracting, MFLH is available for log home restoration and consulting work. MFLH has done restoration, repair and remodeling work on CCC projects and historic homes built by Henry Steiner, John Steiner and Bill Leng. Larger log projects can be done with attention to the needs of our crews when we are working off site for extended periods of time. Large log projects often require far more planning and commitment in personal, equipment, and materials. We hope this gives you a feel for the work that Mark Fritch Log Homes can do. Please explore our site for more information. We are proud of our work and reputation. We think you will be as well.
- DecksDescription - This house is a recreational home built on an extremely beautiful and difficult site. We had a ledge just above the waterline of Lake Billy Chinook that was 50' wide with a rock bluff behind. It forced us to build wide and tall. By using lowered decks and shallow porch roofs, we were able to design and build a home that takes advantage of the view and the lay of the property. There is a full basement with three garage doors that allows the owners to drive through the house to get to the other side of the property and a door that leads directly to the lake so that the boats can be launched from the home. The main floor has a very open feeling with the living room and dining room toward the lake and a kitchen behind. There is also a laundry/storage room and bath behind the kitchen and the master bedroom in the real corner of the first floor. Large covered porches surround the house on three sides and provide protection from the hot eastern Oregon sun. The second floor has two bedrooms, and a bath.

- PorchesDescription - The main floor of the Salmon River Residence is in the shape of a T. The top of the T is 34' across and 24' down and contains the main entry, stairway, bath, airlock rear entry with laundry, guest bedroom and kitchen. The leg of the T is 22' wide and 24' tall and contains the great room and dining area. There are 8' x 24' porches on either side of the leg of the T. Though the main floor of the house is a T, the second floor and roof treat the house as a 34' x 48' rectangle. This allows for a 9' loft on either side of the great room. The second floor is occupied by the master bedroom, bath and child's bedroom. Above these rooms is an open sleeping loft that is 12' x 16'.
