General Info
Company History & Demographics John Hancock & Associates, Inc. was organized in 1984 to offer general civil engineering and land surveying services for residential, commercial, industrial developments, and mining. Our company services clients in northern Ohio, primarily in Erie County, but also in Ottawa, Lorain, Sandusky, Seneca, Huron, Richland, Ashland, and Cuyahoga Counties. Our office is located centrally in Sandusky.Primary projects today are site planning and engineering design for residential developments, including condominium, apartment, and single family housing. We provide land surveys by GPS and conventional methods, topographic mapping, preliminary and final development plans and plats, and obtain all local, state, and federal approvals. We typically arrange and manage through sub-consultants the studies and permits required for wetland mitigations and environmental Phase I and II reports. Larger projects typically involve FEMA special flood hazard area conditions and restudies/remodeling utilizing HEC-2 and appropriate check programs. FEMA studies are performed in-house by permanent staff. Go to Frequently Asked Questions for more information on flood zones, etc.Pollution Prevention Associates, our environmental engineering and management affiliate, provides Environmental Site Assessments, Phase I and II Environmental Reports, and remediation consulting.Other services provided for individual property owners and lenders include Special Flood Hazard Determinations and Elevation Certificates, mortgage location services, and commercial ALTA/ACSM mortgage surveys. JHAI also continues to provide civil engineering services in the mining industry, including mine planning and drainage analysis, reserve studies, and process engineering assistance.
