- Pediatric CareThe John Muir Health Family Medicine Residency Program is an unopposed community-based program, affiliated with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Through our partnership with UCSF, we offer residents a strong and comprehensive training centered on our Clinic First / Practice PLUS Residency Practice. Clinic First / Practice PLUS means our Residency Practice is the centerpiece of our program---all major design and improvement plans evolve around the central continuity relationships with preceptors, staff, and patients in our practice. Our residents receive some of the strongest practice-based training in Family Medicine, yet also receive concentrated and highly supported training in Inpatient Adult Medicine, Inpatient Pediatrics, and have an expanding role in the care of our Medi-Cal pre-natal and delivery services at John Muir Health. We provide our residents with a learning, leading and caring community to expand their capacity to provide exceptional full-spectrum primary, urgent and acute care services in a broad-array of settings.

- ElectrocardiogramA nurse or nurse practitioner will meet with you to review your health history, discuss any medications you are taking, and provide you with educational material. We may also give you lab or heart (EKG) tests at this time. Other staff may be on hand to discuss questions you may have about anesthesia, pain medication, your recovery, or any other concerns.

- GynecologyA support group for women with a diagnosis of a gynecologic malignancy. The session is facilitated by a psychologist. A gynecology oncology nurse also participates and provides information regarding treatment. Meets 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 11am-12:30pm. In the latest rankings, Diabetes & Endocrinology (#42), Obstetrics & Gynecology (#36), Orthopedics (#35) and Pulmonology & Lung Surgery (#36) all achieved national rankings. The medical centers were also rated as high performing in six specialties -- Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, and Urology. In addition, the two medical centers were rated as high performing in 18 adult procedures and conditions, including Aortic Valve Surgery, Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD), Colon Cancer Surgery, Diabetes, Heart Attack, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Fracture, Hip Replacement, Kidney Failure, Knee Replacement, Lung Cancer Surgery, Ovarian Cancer Surgery, Pneumonia, Prostate Cancer Surgery, Stroke, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). Walnut Creek and Concord were also designated as Best Regional Hospitals, ranked #2 and #3 in the SF Metro Area and #10 and #17 in the state, respectively.
- Ovarian CancerThis support group for women at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer provides emotional support and practical resources. The every-other-month meetings create a safe atmosphere to learn and bond with others who understand what you're going through. The group helps women adjust to new genetic information and learn how to move forward in positive and life-affirming ways. - Colon CancerWe are one of the few Bay Area hospitals with American College of Surgeons-board certified colon and rectal surgeons. Eighty percent of colon cancer surgeries performed use a minimally invasive, laparoscopic technique, compared to the 30 percent national average for hospitals in the U.S.

You and your family actually get to know the people who are treating you, and they, in turn, get to know you. Our comprehensive cancer care program offers the same high standards of an academic program in a very personal setting. - Multiple SclerosisUseful information for patients with neurological disorders who are getting treatment at one of John Muir Health's outpatient rehabilitation clinics, including those who have had a stroke, Parkinson's disease, or multiple sclerosis.

- Mental HealthFacilitated by one of our mental health professionals, this 8-week small group is limited to 10 participants per cohort. Topics include symptoms of postpartum depression, anxiety, sleep, relationship with significant other, self-care, expectations versus reality of motherhood and what to embrace and avoid.

- EndocrinologyIn the Endocrinology and Diabetes space, we have completed over 500 clinical trials, with focus on Phase II, III, and IV trials. We have extensive experience in medical device studies for invasive and noninvasive glucose monitors, glucose sensors, HbA1c testing and lipid measuring devices. Our research coordinators are Registered Nurses and Certified Diabetes Educators with significant experience in Diabetes Mellitus and its complications, cardiovascular outcome trials, as well as obesity and other metabolic disorders.Â

- Radiation OncologyJohn Muir Health’s Radiation Oncology programs at its Concord and Walnut Creek medical centers have received accreditation from The American College of Radiology (ACR), the nation’s oldest and most widely recognized radiation oncology and medical imaging accrediting body. This recognition places John Muir Health in the company of 200 radiation oncology facilities in the United States that are ACR accredited or in the accreditation review process, and the only hospitals in the East Bay to be recognized.
