The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education support local school districts as they provide for the needs of special education students. It serves more than 10 school districts in the northern coastal areas of San Diego County in California. The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education offers services in the areas of staff development activities, problem solving, parent education, and legal and technical assistance. It coordinates special education programs and student placement for more than 12,000 students. The organization maintains a community advisory committee and operates a library. It additionally provides scholarships to students. The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education is responsible for monitoring compliance with state and federal mandates, developing policies, procedures and guidelines and providing staff development opportunities.
