For the last 13 years I have worked successfully with adult clients dealing with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, abuse issues, personality issues and other relationship and mental health concerns. I believe that a trusting relationship between the therapist and client is the foundation for all growth and change. However, the relationship itself is typically not sufficient. I will help you set goals for your therapy based upon what you would like to have different in your life, and together we will explore and change the blocks which have prevented you from achieving your goals. I specialize in and enjoy working with challenging problems that have been resistant to change. While I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including mindfulness, skills building, stress reduction and psycho-education, all within a supportive, client-centered context. I believe that group therapy is often more powerful than individual therapy. I offer group therapy for women dealing with breast cancer, veterans and their partners, chronic pain, panic and anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. Groups provide the opportunity for shared wisdom and experience, and for building a supportive therapeutic community. Our Marriage and Family Therapist Interns are experienced in working with children and teens as well as adults. They have experience with teen issues including challenging behaviors, gang affiliation, drug and alcohol experimentation and abuse, and other issues facing teens. Our interns are Spanish speaking and can conduct therapy in Spanish. GLBTQ welcome!
