I have to say my family and I are extremely disappointed. Nicole was very friendly and communicative prior to the placement of my father in Grover Beach, CA. However, once he was placed, less than 24 hours after he'd been there, my mother received a call from the caregiver saying he most likely would not be allowed to stay. What happened? My father was holding the owners dog, who happens to look much like his own dog. The owner told him it wasn't his dog, that "his" dog was at "his" home. Wasn't this supposed to be "his" home? My dad got scared and slapped him. First time he'd ever done anything like that. The caregiver said that her husband, the owner was intimidated by my 80 year old father. Aren't these people supposed to be trained to deal with Alzheimer's patients? Three days later my mom was called and told she had to come and get him. The owner felt intimidated. When mom got there, my dad was trembling and scared. He hadn't been shaved in four days, his clothing had only been changed one time, and it appeared that he hadn't yet been bathed. When looking for care, we were very open about his needs and fears as an Alzheimer's patient. However, we don't feel that their caregivers were open with us about their expectations with a patient. That he could not consider it to be his home, that he would not be cared for, and that pacing around the house was frowned upon. These caregivers did not want to give my mother a full refund until threatened with legal action. My mother and I both have tried to contact Nicole to talk about what happened. She has not returned either of our calls. I'm disgusted with this organization. These caregivers obviously do not know the behaviors of Alzheimer's patients or how to care for them. They are obviously just in it for the money.
