- Dental CarePet dental care is an important step in wellness planning. Poor oral health can easily lead to problems such as gum disease in animals. Infections and diseases in your pet’s mouth can cause more serious systemic health problems such as heart, kidney, and lung disease.
- VaccinationThough many of these smaller animals don’t require vaccinations, they should be examined by a veterinarian who is familiar with the special issues associated with your type of pet. If concerns develop between visits, call our clinic at once–your little friend may not exhibit any visible symptoms of illness until the problem is quite advanced.
- Behavioral CounselingElena has a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, She has a strong belief that pets make life better. She currently has a miniature American shepherd who keeps her very active. We enjoy hiking everywhere -mountains, beaches, and everywhere in-between. She grew up surrounded by dogs and other animals, spending the summers at her family cabin in the Eldorado National Forest. Elena believes variety is the spice of life; and so far has been an executive assistant, office and logistics manager, service dog trainer, canine behavior modification, pastry chef, and food allergen consultant; However, working with animals has been the most rewarding so far for her.
- Nutritional CounselingAt each visit, discussions about your pet include adequate housing, diet and nutrition, exercise and play, the use of toys and accessories, and behavioral training. This is the time to bring up any questions or concerns you may have or any changes you have observed in your pet’s behavior or condition since your last visit. These changes may be indicative of a developing condition or disease that will require treatment or may simply be the result of environmental factors that are easily addressed at home.
- Comprehensive ExaminationThe veterinarians at West Valley Pet Clinic perform a thorough exam each and every time we see your pet—whether for an annual exam, a progress exam, or due to a visit for a specific concern. As a result, we are often able to diagnose problems early and minimize or eliminate these issues before they develop into more complicated conditions.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlExternal parasites such as fleas and ticks cause more than discomfort in pets—they can carry tapeworms or transmit other diseases that can be serious or fatal. Preventing these unwanted visitors is an important part of your pet’s wellness plan.
- Pain ManagementSurgery can be painful! If we would expect pain control for ourselves, our pet patients also receive it. If your pet is in pain, please call us right away so we can help. Signs of pain include...
- Vomiting Treatment
- Diarrhea Treatment
- Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
- Hip Dysplasia TreatmentPet laser therapy is an innovative technology used to treat acute and chronic injuries. This non-invasive treatment stimulates cell regeneration by increasing blood flow to the targeted area, which accelerates the healing process. This is a non-invasive procedure that does not require your pet to be under anesthesia. It has been successfully used to accelerate the healing process after surgery, alleviate joint pain, and treat degenerative diseases. Consider it the “non-cutting” edge of veterinary science!
- Heart Disease TreatmentAlthough all of our vets have additional training in performing ultrasounds, for more subtle cases, we are also able to bring in specialists to perform ultrasounds for our patients, or a veterinary cardiologist to perform an ultrasound of the heart. You and your pet receive this service in the comfort and security of our clinic, without the stress and expense of additional outside referrals.
- Kidney Disease TreatmentSonograms are performed by using a handheld probe, or transducer, placed on the patient and moved over the surface of the skin. A live view of the patient’s insides is then visible on a screen. This allows our veterinarians the ability to “see through” organs—for instance, we can better appreciate those texture changes seen with chronic kidney disease, abnormal thickening of the intestine with inflammatory bowel disease, or be able to measure and see the blood supply of a mass on the liver, among many other things!
- Veterinary SurgeryWest Valley Pet Clinic offers excellence in veterinary surgery for dogs, cats, birds, and pocket pets. - Microchipping
- Senior Pet CareWhen your pet is sick, we compare new lab work to previous baseline values to determine the exact level of illness. Sometimes we may need to use lab tests throughout the treatment of a disease to measure the patient’s response to the protocol. Laboratory tests also are used to confirm the presence of illnesses, identify developing conditions, and to rule out other diseases. This use of lab work is especially important in senior pet care, for early and accurate diagnosis of age-related diseases. When a pet is scheduled for surgery, we use pre-surgical screening tests to determine the risk of complications while under general anesthesia—this also allows us to better tailor the anesthetic protocol to your pet’s needs.
