As of June first, 2016, Gypsy Rosalie's Wigs and Vintage, Long time icon owner is Rosalie, nominated by Supervisor Aaron Peskin, Member of San Francisco Board of Supervisors, to be registered as a Legacy Business. This certification is reserved for long time business owners that work in San Francisco that contribute culturally and commercially to San Francisco. She has a Certificate of Honor from the full Board of Supervisors.; Rosalie has over 50 years experience in the beauty industry, is licensed as a Cosmetologist with the State of California and is a Hair Styling instructor. Her customers are everyday San Francisco cancer survivors, who need wigs, as well as residents, entertainers and celebrities such as Little Richard, Etta James, Anita Day, the Ru Paul Girls, and Mary Wilson of the Supreme s Boylesque from Las Vegas asked her to do all of his wigs for his shows. She also does Advanced Hair Styling classes for hairdressers in the top salons in the city, such as Emanuel Patrick Alex at Union Square and Festoon. She has also done big shows at Bimbo.. She sponsors Beauty Queen pageants, theater s productions such as Beach Blanket Babylon, and produces fashions shows with the at large and LGBT community. Her customers hail from New York, London and Las Vegas, her store becomes a destination place in the city and globally. SF Weekly named her Best Place to Wig Out for several years. The Chronicle just reviewed her in the Styles Magazine. Rosalie is best known for styling and repairing wigs, setting curls, and creating drag-worthy looks. Her wigs helped win contests for her customers, such as Juanita, Vanessa, Gina, and many more divas in this city.
