Paul D. Wagner, MD, FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine doctor providing primary care at San Diego Medical Group, an independent practice in San Diego. He is a member of the UC San Diego Health Physician Network.UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.Dr. Wagner provides preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases for adults. He has a particular interest in diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and thyroid disease.Dr. Wagner earned his medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and is board certified in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Wagner is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He also has memberships in the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Directors Association, California Medical Association, California Association of Long Term Care Medicine and the San Diego County Medical Society.Before becoming a doctor, Dr. Wagner spent six years studying for the ministry earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts in seminary. Dr. Wagner has been practicing medicine since 1995, and he believes his career "encompasses the entirety of my training in medicine and the ministry."
