- Kitchen RemodelingThe scope of this project was to renovate the existing Border Patrol station and detention facility in Imperial Beach, CA. Work included construction of an all-new structural steel Sally Port (secure loading/unloading area) with an 8” thick concrete slab, an epoxy-coated no-climb fence, new lighting, front and back motorized roll-up gates for buses and patrol vehicles, and a metal canopy roof. Additional work included new interior lighting, an outdoor shower area, interior storage areas for detainees, gun lockers for agents, electrically-controlled cell security doors, cell intercom systems, new station intercom system, new epoxy flooring for station, new plumbing fixtures (sink/urinal/toilets) in cells, and a large new service counter with stainless steel countertop.
- Bathroom Remodeling
- FlooringThis was a design/build project to renovate the entire 8,000 sf Wounded Warrior Ward to accommodate traumatically injured service members from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The ward included patient rooms, exam rooms, storage rooms, therapy rooms, and bathrooms. New work included new partition walls, new flooring and ceilings, new metal doors, new signage, and new finishes. MEP work included new and reconfigured fire sprinkler lines, new HVAC ductwork and registers, upgrading the chilled water systems, new telecom, new electrical with light fixtures, a new nurse station, and a new central admin. work area. MTM crews completed all work except MEP work.
- Door Installation/Replacement
- DrywallsThis was a design/build project consisting of two elements. The first was to demolish an existing laundry building and replace it with a new 845 sf wood-framed bldg. The new bldg. consisted of a slab on grade and grade beams with 6” exterior walls. Interior finishes were floor drains, sinks, painted walls and a sealed concrete floor. The second major element of this project was to construct a new 50’x20’ building addition with offices and restrooms. Included in the addition was a concrete slab with grade beams and wood framing. The existing HVAC system was spread to the new building addition and new electrical was provided to enable the use of data, telecom and voice systems. MTM crews completed all concrete and framing work, along with interior finishes of drywall, paint, doors/frames and tile.
- FramingThis was a design/build project to perform “historical” structural and seismic upgrades to the former residence of the Commanding General of the U.S. Army’s Dept. of the Pacific, built in 1877. Original historical building materials such as the stone foundation and exterior siding were removed to perform upgrades and then put back in place. Work included connecting the wood framing to the foundation; reinforcing existing foundation walls with added concrete and steel beams/plates; and installing new shear walls. Other health and safety upgrades included pouring a new elevator pit; upgrading the bldg. electrical service; upgrading the HVAC system; upgrading the plumbing systems; upgrading the fire suppression systems; replacing the fire alarm and smoke detection systems; and replacing the 2
- Tile InstallationPrimary scope of work was to repair the damage caused by a broken water line inside the 22,000 sf Learning Resources Center (LRC) at Cuyamaca College. The secondary focus of this project was to complete a remodel of the building. New work included replacement of carpet and tile flooring, drywall, baseboards and floor-mounted casework. Additional work included new cabinets, desks and millwork; new partition walls and ceilings, decorative wooden ceilings, and fire alarm system. One special item of new work was a new metal and fabric finished barrel-shaped acoustic ceiling over the main entrance to the building. Work performed by MTM crews included new partition walls, tile flooring and all paint.

- New ConstructionOur pre-construction services begin with focused meetings with our client, using our experience to gain a deep understanding of our client’s goals and needs. Depending on whether the project is a design/build project, or not, the topics to be reviewed are: the schedule; preliminary budgets; logistics; constructability; feasibility; and value-engineering.
- DemolitionThe scope of this project was to upgrade the existing Red/Blue obstacle course at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. The project scope consisted of installing new 40’ tall round timbers in vertical, horizontal, and sloping positions, along with required hardware, at various stations of the obstacle course, such as the vertical rope climb, barrier wall, log walk, incline log walk and others. Work performed by MTM Builders, Inc. included all demolition work, the grading work, installing new wood timbers, backfilling and securing all timbers, installing all connecting hardware, installing ropes as required, installing wall barriers, installing the safety flooring, and pouring concrete footings.
- LandscapingThis was a design/build project to remodel the existing food court area between the Commissary and main Exchange at MCAS Miramar. The project scope consisted of removing the existing steel and plastic shade structure and concrete paving. New work included reworking existing concrete planters, repairing underground utilities, new concrete pavers, new steel pipe columns, new concrete patios, new irrigation and landscaping, replacing an existing storefront, new fabric shade sails, and a new monument sign.
- Gate Replacement/Installation
- DrivewaysThis was a design/build project to construct a single-story 7,200 sf pre-engineered metal bldg. Building features included a monorail crane; a structural steel mezzanine area used for storage; two software labs, restrooms, epoxy flooring, a large NIST Endurance Test Lab, and a NIST Maze Testing Lab. MEP work included new electrical and plumbing systems, ductless split systems in lab rooms, and six infrared heaters in observation areas. Exterior features included exterior driveway slabs and concrete slabs modular test platforms.

- Irrigation SystemsThis was a design/build project to renovate the Elrod Exchange, Building 2499, at MCAS Miramar. Work included a new food bar, a new dry-cleaning space, new cabinets and checking counters, new flooring and ceilings, new finishes, and re-configuring the sprinkler system. MEP work included replacing the existing walk-in and reach-in refrigerators with new refrigerators, adding a new HVAC system, replacing existing electrical panels, and new LED lighting. Work completed by MTM Builders’ crews included interior demolition; saw-cutting concrete floors; all metal stud framing, furring out interior walls, drywall/tape and finish of interior walls, and painting all exterior stucco and interior surfaces.
- Window Installation/ReplacementAll the rough lumber and finished lumber was from FSC-accredited forests. The kiosk was finished with interior cabinets, cedar siding and shingles, wood doors and windows, painted drywall, and vinyl flooring.
- PatiosWork performed by MTM Builders, Inc. included all demolition work, grading work, new utility lines, new drains, new irrigation system, new pavers, and new decorative concrete patios.
- GuttersThe scope of work for this project was to install new bike paths between San Diego and National City, CA. This included 1 miles of a Class 1 bikeway, 1 miles of a Class 2 bikeway, and 0.2 miles of a Class 3 bikeway. Included in the work was asphalt and pervious concrete paving over base course for the bikeway; new concrete curbs/gutters, medians, and ramps; new concrete gravity walls; removal and reconstruction of a portion of the perimeter fence surrounding Naval Base San Diego; modification of three existing traffic signals; and installation of a solar-powered LED pedestrian warning system. Bridge work consisted of new reinforcing steel and concrete decking; new curbs and gutters; extending existing handrails; new bridge railings; and installing new bikeway signage and striping.
- SidingThe site work consisted of a new kiosk island concrete walkways, a new flagpole, landscaping, and decorative boulders. Pole-mounted security cameras were installed over the roadway and inside and outside the kiosk. All security cameras were configured to work with the existing security system. MTM crews completed all the concrete work, framing, siding, shingles, doors, windows, finishes and boulders.

- MasonryThis project was located inside the Federal Correction Center at Victorville, CA. The scope of work was to build a large drive-in freezer on a new slab on grade; perform upgrades to the existing motor pool garage; install a portable hazardous materials bldg.; and to construct additional parking areas with striping. Upgrades to the garage area included new masonry walls to create additional workspaces; new hoisting equipment for the motor pool; upgrades to the electrical systems; new HVAC units; and new paint. MTM Builders’ crews completed interior demolition, cutting/coring and patching masonry holes, fire caulking, and painting exterior and interior surfaces.
- CaulkingThe scope of this project was to upgrade the entire 68-room 3-story masonry barracks to meet current building codes and standards. Work included a new fire sprinkler system, new site utilities, new walls/ceilings, anti-blast windows, epoxy flooring, doors/frames, and new paint. MEP upgrades included replacing 68 fan coil HVAC systems, new controls, exhaust fans, plumbing fixtures, new switchgear, transformers, and panelboards, cold/hot water piping, seismic restraints, and test/balance. Work completed by MTM Builders’ crews included interior demolition, coring/patching masonry holes, fire caulking, re-framing rooms for new steel storage closets, installation of storage closets, prepping existing walls for paint, painting exterior stucco and all interior surfaces, and final clean-up.
