Meghan Hammel, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides therapy to women struggling with perinatal depression and anxiety disorders before and after childbirth. Dr. Hammel is part of UC San Diego Healths https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/psych/clinic-based/reproductive-mental-health/Pages/default.aspx, which offers a full range of mental health care services, including comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management and various forms of psychotherapy or talk therapy. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, she was a postdoctoral fellow in behavioral medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, providing mental health services to patients with chronic pain as well as to individuals seeking bariatric surgery. Her clinical training also includes internships at St. Vincent de Paul Village, San Diego, where she counseled women and children struggling with homelessness, and Rady Childrens Hospital-San Diego, where she worked with children, adolescents, and their families coping with medical illnesses including cancer. She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego. Dr. Hammel has lived in San Diego since 1998 and enjoys spending time participating in family friendly activities in the local area.
