Marianna Alperin, MD, is a board-certified urogynecologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating a variety of pelvic floor conditions, including urinary and fecal incontinence and prolapse. As an assistant professor in the Department of Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Alperin instructs medical students and residents and trains surgeons during their pelvic surgery fellowships. Her research focuses on the pathophysiology of pelvic floor disorders to better understand the mechanisms of injury and repair, with the hope of improving preventive and therapeutic strategies. She completed a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Womens Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Alperin earned her medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. She holds a master's degree in clinical research and design from University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Alperin is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Society of Urogynecology.
