Lynn S. Bemiller, MD, is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist who specializes in treating people with nonmalignant disorders of the blood, including anemia, bleeding or clotting problems, and white blood cell problems. She also has a special interest in transfusion medicine and global health. Dr. Bemiller has cared for patients in the San Diego community since 1985. From 1994 to 2000, she served as the associate medical director for the San Diego Blood Bank, where she helped establish the umbilical cord blood banking program.Dedicated to improving human welfare globally, Dr. Bemiller has also served as a volunteer hematologist and physician for several humanitarian organizations, including Health Volunteers Overseas and Project HOPE. In recent years, she worked part-time as a hematologist/oncologist for several hospitals in San Diego. As a part-time physician, Dr. Bemiller devoted the rest of her time to international medical volunteer work in the South Pacific region.Dr. Bemiller completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology/oncology in the Department of Medicine at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. She earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va. She holds a masters in public health from Walden University in Minneapolis. Dr. Bemiller is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.Dr. Bemiller has been twice named a top doctor in San Diego Magazine's Physicians of Exceptional Excellence" annual survey performed in collaboration with the San Diego County Medical Society.
