General Info
Amanda A. Gosman, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in cleft lip and palate surgery, pediatric and adult craniofacial surgery, microsurgical facial reanimation, breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery. Dr. Gosman is an associate professor of plastic surgery and director of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at UC San Diego Health. At UC San Diego School of Medicine, she is director of the Plastic Surgery Residency Program and the Craniofacial Fellowship Program. She is also the director of the Fresh Start Clinic for Craniofacial Anomalies at Rady Childrens Hospital-San Diego, where she performs reconstructive surgeries for children at no cost. Her research is focused on cleft lip and palate surgeries, plastic surgery outcomes, telemedicine and international health. Dr. Gosman earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her fellowship in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery and her residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern. She also received training in international plastic surgery with ReSurge International (formerly Interplast).Dr. Gosman has extensive experience providing health care and education to underserved communities around the world. She has successfully utilized telemedicine technology to overcome logistical barriers to international health care and education through ConnectMed International a nonprofit organization that she founded in 2010 to provide free reconstructive surgeries and education to underserved communities around the world. She has authored multiple publications and given lectures internationally on cleft lip and palate surgery, breast surgery, plastic surgery safety and outcomes, international health and telemedicine. Dr. Gosman has been the recipient of many awards for her commitment to improving the health care of children and adults in her community and around the world.
