Ankita Kadakia, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine and infectious disease physician. She provides primary care, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases for adults with HIV and AIDS. Dr. Kadakia cares for people at UC San Diego Health's Owen Clinic, one of America's top HIV care programs. Her goal is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for persons living with HIV/AIDS for their physical and mental well-being. Dr. Kadakia's interests include global health medicine and HIV/AIDS care in the developing world. She provides healthcare to HIV/AIDS patients in rural Uganda, and is a board member of Amazing Love School Foundation, which provides primary education to AIDS orphans and impoverished children. Dr. Kadakia has helped improve the school's curriculum and capacities to provide vocational and life skills and dormitories for homeless students. Before joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Kadakia established an infectious disease consultation service for Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate. Her specialty included hospital epidemiology and infection control.Dr. Kadakia earned her medical degree from Ross University. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in infectious disease at University of Connecticut. During her medical training at Harford Hospital, Dr. Kadakia cared for diverse groups of people including immigrants and intercity populations.
