Founded in 1913, American Cancer Society Inc. is one of the largest voluntary health organizations in the United States. It is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization that treats cancer patients. The organization has over 12 chartered divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide and operates in more than 5,100 communities. American Cancer Society Inc. develops guidelines for cancer screenings, nutrition and physical activity. Since 2005, the organization has been attaining the Wise Giving Alliance national charity seal from The Better Business Bureau.
