General Info
Aaron Willcott, MS, is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) who specializes in HIV medicine and sexual health. He is part of the team at UC San Diego Health's Owen Clinic, where he assists in providing primary care to adults over age 18. This includes preventative care such as cancer screenings and immunizations, and treatment of acute and chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and thyroid disease. Willcott also helps people with HIV manage their antiretroviral therapy. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, he was a physician assistant at Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan. and Rock Creek Medical Care in Lansing, Kan. Willcott is a regular guest speaker for the LGBTQ Mental Health and Wellness series at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He also presents at the Pacific AIDS Education Training Center. He serves on the board of directors for Being Alive San Diego and is a member of the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee at UC San Diego Health and the Physician Assistants for Global Health (PAGH). Willcott earned a masters degree in physician assistant studies from University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind. He obtained a bachelors degree in human biology from The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. Willcott enjoys volunteering locally and internationally. He has provided medical disaster relief services in Haiti, tornado relief in Joplin, Mo., and HIV testing and counseling in Kenya and Mexico. In addition, he also participates in community service activities for organizations such as AIDS Awareness, The American Cancer Society, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He volunteers for many local organizations, working as an usher for La Jolla Playhouse and the San Diego Symphony, programming the San Diego International Film Festival, and volunteering for San Diego Refugee Tutoring and the Old Globe Theater.
