My grandfather is currently in this facility against the will of the majority of our family. My mother would like to get him out of this place and take care of him but my aunt refuses. My aunt knows that if he stays here long enough his health will quickly deteriorate which is her goal in placing him in this facility. As referenced before, he was placed here by an aunt under the guise of rehab purposes to help strengthen his legs after a brief hospitalization for a UTI. In the last 4 months of his stay his mental and physical health has DRASTICALLY declined. They keep 95% of the residents in wheelchairs all of the time and will not allow my family to walk him for "fear of falling." I call it pure laziness. Consequently for lack of use in his legs he has gotten much weaker. My grandfather has dementia and they have kept him drugged with little interaction because he stays sleepy all of the time! He still has the mental capability of an 8yr old but if he's sleeping of course he's digressing. He's not an invalid, he has feelings and emotions and deserves dignity, yet they have thrown him away and marked him for death. The food doesn't look like anything i would eat and the portions are tiny. The several times I've been to visit I have only seen 3-4 staff members max! And my stays are for 4-5 hours. What does that say about this facility?

My dad stayed at Colonial Pines for a few weeks. He loved the food, which says a lot because he seldom eats out because my mom cooks so well. The staff members took special interest in him. The facility was very clean and welcoming. It definitely seems the longterm residents are in poor physical condition. Most cannot converse. That's the nature of "nursing homes".

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! My mom was in there until about 3 weeks ago. They talked my mom into going to a hospital to be treated for depression. Two days after my mom left, they called saying we need to find her another nursing home. They would not be letting her come back there. This is called "DUMPING" and is very illegal practice. Some nursing homes do this to get rid of patients that they don't want. Mom had made a few complaints to the state over treatment she had received there. The food is deplorable and a lot of times, not enough. Some of the CNA's yell at the patients and talk to them in threatening ways. Please if you love your family, like I do, go somewhere else.
