UTHSCSA Department of Orthopaedics was established in 1966 as a division of the Department of Surgery. The department provides care to patients in San Antonio and surrounding counties, as well as the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas. It provides inpatient and outpatient care for various orthopaedic disorders, diseases and injuries. It specializes in full line of areas, such as orthopaedic oncology, general orthopaedics, hand and plastic surgery, pediatric orthopaedics, shoulder surgery, sports medicine, and spine surgery and scoliosis. It also specializes in total joint arthroplasty, orthopaedic trauma and post-traumatic reconstruction, wound care, and podiatric medicine and surgery. UTHSCSA Department of Orthopaedics is located in San Antonio.
