Reaching Maximum Independence, also known as RMI, is a private, nonprofit corporation that provides a range of residential and vocational services in San Antonio. It serves more than 80 individuals with mental retardation and related disabilities. Founded in 1982, the center also offers in-home support solutions and organizes fundraising activities. Reaching Maximum Independence maintains a staff of over 80 individuals. In addition, it provides home- and community-based service program. The center offers foster and respite care and supported home living solutions. Reaching Maximum Independence also provides volunteer and training center day habilitation programs, as well as organizes workshops. It maintains homes and apartment units for clients.
