I own three small businesses. I tried using Paychex to process payroll at my first business - huge mistake. (1) After two years of paying outrageous rates, I switched to an online payroll provider and cut my payroll processing fees in half. (2) Even worse, a year after leaving Paychex I had an IRS agent show up at my door. Turns out Payrchex had set up my company incorrectly, and was filing the wrong forms (941 vs 944). Caused a huge paperwork nightmare and has cost me hundreds of dollars in penalties, interest, and accounting fees to straighten out. (3) After contacting Paychex to get reimbursed, they refused to pay the IRS penalties or my accountant's bill. Their defense is "well you should have come to us to fix it" -- umm, ya, you're the fools that caused the damage in the first place. Who in their right mind would EVER let you touch their accounts again? Avoid at all costs. EXPENSIVE, POOR SERVICE, NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
