In 1939, Mayor Maury Maverick dedicated the Mission of La Villita to preserving Arts and Culture, fostering an environment where local Artisans can produce works and share in cultural community engagement and events. A quaint and peaceful City park, La Villita is also listed on the National Registry of Historic Districts.
