- General SurgeryHe attended Medical School at the University of Mississippi. This was followed by a five year general surgery residency at the University of South Carolina.
- Hand SurgeryDuring his tenure as Chief Resident in Surgery, he founded the first microsurgical laboratory at the University of South Carolina Spartanburg Regional Hospital Facility. Because of his accomplishments and knowledge, he was one of only eight American and six international surgeons chosen, from all over the world, for a fellowship in the prestigious Christine Kleinert Memorial Hand Surgery Fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the largest and most famous hand fellowship in the world. The caliber of that particlaur group of trainees speaks for themselves: One of his classmates, Dr. Warren Breidenbach, perfomed the first successful hand transplantion in U.S. History. Another of his classmates, Dr. Maria Semienow, is now famous for performing the first face transplant in U.S. History.
- NeurosurgeryDuring his surgery residency he also travelled for additional training with clinical rotations in Neurosurgery, and Plastic Surgery at Emory University. While at Emory, he gained first hand instruction in some of the earliest microsurgical reconstructions in history. Dr. Coleman was at Emory with the professors at the time when they were engineering and publishing the earliest techniques for the TRAM flap breast reconstruction, and gained an exceptional working knowledge of the anatomy of the abdominal wall in its use for the Tram Flap. This is now one of the most a common breast reconstruction procedures worldwide.
- HysterectomyThe mini- tummy tuck is an operation to simply remove a small amount of skin from the lower abdomen. Sometimes this can also remove an unsightly scar from a previous C-Section or hysterectomy. The incision is placed low on the abdomen, and may even include the removal of some of your pubic hair region. It is ideal for women who still want to wear 2- piece bathing suits or bikinis, because the scar will be hidden beneath the bathing suit. If muscles below the navel are weakened, they can repaired through this incision. The navel is left alone or may be lowered a fraction of an inch. If you have a lot of extra skin or poor abdominal muscle tone above and below the navel, this operation may not be helpful. Dr, Coleman can help you to determine if this would be a good choice for you.
- Reconstructive SurgeryAfter completion of a full hand fellowship, he continued with a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery which included further microsurgery training with Dr. Harry Bunckie, considered the pioneering grandfather of microsurgery.
- Liposuction"Update and History of Tumescent Liposuction", invited presentation for the University of Texas Health Science Center, Department of Nursing Continuing Medical Education Seminar, San Antonio, Texas (August 1997).
- Breast Augmentation
- Breast Reconstruction
- Plastic SurgeryBecause of regional variations for Texas and San Antonio, our fees are generally 10 -15% below the current market costs provided by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
- Thigh LiftThis operation is an all-inclusive procedure that can reduce almost any amount of skin, and fat and tighten up muscles above and below the navel. It offers the most flexibility for patients who have a lot of excess skin or weakened muscles. It can be combined with a lateral thigh lift if needed.
- AbdominoplastyThe formal abdominoplasty will answer all your needs. Almost all problems can be answered with this approach. All muscles can be exposed and tightened, both above and below the navel. It can be extended around the waist to lift the skin of the outer thighs or waist.
- Body LiftThe total costs for abdominoplasty range from about $5200 for a mini- tummy tuck, to approximately $10000 for a complete circumferential body lift at the waistline.
- Breast SurgeryJust because you've had children doesn't mean you have to sacrifice the way you look. Women who are unhappy with their post pregnancy body can choose a combination of procedures including: Tummy Tuck, Liposuction, and Breast Surgery to help restore and improve their figure as well as their self-image.
- Bariatric SurgeryThis operation is the combination of a formal abdominoplasty with removal skin around the entire waistline, and can include lifting of skin of the lateral thighs. It can even be used to lift the buttocks if continued all the way around the back. This is a large scale operation that usually requires an overnight stay in the hospital. It is most useful for patients who have had a considerable weight loss. It is also used for patients who have had bariatric surgery, a special operation on the stomach or intestines for patients who need massive weight reduction.
