Bazan Branch Library - Thank you for being a big part of my grandpa life. In Memory of Andres Torres Mendez, He was born May 24, 1918, in Mexico City. He was an only child and self-taught musician who shared his lifelong love of music with everyone. He was a 20+ year volunteer in the Bazan Branch Library, where gave free guitar lessons to both young and old. He was a member of the San Fernando Mariachi Choir, where he performed during Easter Services. He is survived by his children, Cecilia Wehner, Maria Lourdes Balderas, Luis Mendez, Andres Mendez, Gabriela Amador and Georgina Kolkebeck; 35 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and his health-care provider and friend, Mary Alice Franco. He is preceded in death by his daughters, Maria Celia Cintron and Guadalupe Willoughby; and his grandchildren, Marco Antonio Patino and Jennifer Destiny Mendez. His beautiful music and giving spirit will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
