Handcraft Fine Cabinetry built the "island design" cabinets for our newly remodeled condo in West Maui which has received many compliments from rental guests. For photos, see Kabana Sunset E8. Handcraft Millwork is a family company which began in 1969 and spans two generations with many decades of experience in homebuilding and commercial projects. For examples please visit Handcraft Home's Photo Website. Since 1987, Handcraft Millwork has installed complete architectural decor millwork trim and custom cabinetry in thousands of homes throughout the Seattle area. These homes have been mainly from mid-range priced to high-end homes. Handcraft Millwork also does a wide range of commercial millwork installations. Merlin Berhold's experience began around 1948 as an apprentice cabinetmaker in Salt Lake City, Utah for a cabinet shop that built a wide range of store fixtures. Merlin continued to work as a cabinetmaker and journeyman carpenter while attending college earning a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1959. He was employed in the aircraft and aerospace industry for 10 years including 3 years at Boeing on the Minuteman Missile program. In 1969, Merlin, following his lifelong interest, started a homebuilding business designing and creating approx. 40 homes east of Lake Washington in the Seattle area. Merlin's sons Cris, Cori and Jon became involved in the building at very early ages while still attending school. His daughter Michelle designed and created beautiful stained glass windows, of which examples can be seen in the Handcraft Home's Photo Website noted above. Gordon Smith, his son-in-law, was also an important key member of the construction team. This was a full time on site involvement pouring foundations, framing, siding, painting, millwork design/installation, landscaping, final cleaning, etc. Last, but not least, Merlin's wife, Jimmy, did an amazing job filling in at the office and a major part of the final cleaning, all in between raising a family of four. Handcraft Millwork has evolved over the years from a full-time millwork finish business beginning around 1987 with family members to dozens of experienced finish carpenters. All this background and experience is at your disposal to help you create that truly "Beautiful Millwork" looks for your home or office. Handcraft is continuing to evolve by going back to its roots and once again being involved in homebuilding. These homes are truly custom homes individually designed and crafted from start to finish as "Showcase" homes to act as a showroom for beautiful architectural millwork decor and exterior architectural design. We invite you to view the photo albums of two recently built homes. One is in Issaquah and one is in Suncadia, the resort golf community next to Roslyn, WA. See Handcraft Home's Photo Website. The designs are inspired by the centuries old tradition of heritage homes like in the recreated village in Williamsburg, VA. The goal is to craft a beautiful home that is a delight to the eye and provides a true feeling of home and future happy memories.
