General Info
The Division of Juvenile Justice Services was founded in 1981. It offers a continuum of intervention, supervision and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders. The division operates receiving centers and offers secure detention and case management services. The Division of Juvenile Justice Services also conducts work camps for juveniles of ages 8 to 18 and is located in Salt Lake City. It provides 24-hour crisis counseling to youths and their families, as well as organizes parent and education groups. The division offers psychological, behavioral, social, educational and physical assessment and vocational and life skills training services. Its work camps are residential placements that require delinquent youths to do physical labor. The division s receiving centers provide a location for local law enforcement to take youths after arrest for status offenses and delinquent acts that do not meet the detention admission guidelines. The Division of Juvenile Justice Services is administered by the Utah Department of Human Services.
