Hi, I'm Sherril Bieberly, owner of the Quilting Bee, and I'd like to tell you a little bit about the Quilting Bee. The Quilting Bee, located in the middle of the Historic Salina Downtown Lee District, first came into being approximately 25 years ago and has grown from a few bolts of fabric tucked away in a very small room of a large needlepoint shop to a large full line quilt shop occupying 4000 square feet of space. I am the third and current owner and have had the privilege of owning the shop for the past 7 1/2 years, soon to be 8 years on Oct 1. We are a traditional style quilt shop and I like to describe the fabrics we carry as mostly "dark and dirty" ( I've been told I shouldn't use that term ) meaning they are the darker colored fabrics usually with a tan or beige tint to them. However, you will also find a large selection of "1930" reproduction fabrics as well as lots of batiks, a nice selection of baby fabrics and some brights. A whole section of the store has been devoted to the beautiful reproduction fabrics of Jo Morton as well as her books and patterns. Another section is devoted to Kansas Troubles Quilters fabrics, books and patterns. Lynne Hagemeier of Kansas Troubles Quilters learned to quilt while working at the Quilting Bee and lives in Bennington, Kansas 12 miles north of Salina. Besides fabrics we carry lots of books, patterns and notions. If you don't see what you want on this web site please call or email_us and ask as we carry lots more than we have space to show here. We offer lots of classes both for the beginning quilter as well as the quilter with a few stitches under her needle. Popular programs and clubs at the "Bee" are 1st Saturday Sampler, Jo's Little Women Club and The Applique Society. We offer several Block of the Month programs including Snowmen All Year Around, a Quilting Bee exclusive redwork BOM.
