Public Works Department is governed by the City of Salem. The department constructs and maintains the infrastructure of the Salem metropolitan area. It offers services, such as maintaining road system, water supplies, storm drainage system and proper treatment of wastewater. City of Salem governs additional departments, including budget, community development, fire, finance, human resources, police, municipal court, legal, urban development and IT (information technology)/facilities. The city provides services comprising of human rights, library, city recorder, recreation, parks, pool, youth development, parking, airport, transportation, contracts/procurement and housing/social services.
