Community Development Department of the city of Salem, Ore., is responsible for planning the orderly growth of the city by providing a variety of development services. Its planning division ensures consistent application of zoning code and land use and development policies of the Salem Area Comprehensive Plan, and provides liaison and consultation services to citizens for planning and zoning issues. The planning division also implements design reviews for multifamily and downtown commercial development, and administers tree conservation ordinance. The department s building and safety division issues building permits and licenses and provides new construction plans review and inspection services, licensing and permits, multihousing licensing and inspections, sign permits, zoning enforcement, and other public information. Its airport division manages the Salem Municipal Airport.
