Based in Oregon, SAIF Corporation is a nonprofit, state-chartered workers' compensation insurance company. It began in 1914 as a state agency. In 1980, the company became the first public corporation in the United States to specialize in workers' compensation insurance. SAIF Corporation is one of the market leaders issuing almost half of the policies in Oregon and providing coverage to more than 600,000 workers and thousands of small businesses. In addition, SAIF Corporation is the 19th largest issuer of workers' compensation policies by direct written premium volume in the United States.
