Neilsen Manufacturing began operations in 1957 as Neilsen Metal Industries. NMI primarily produced material for local industries and food processing facilities. In 1979, electronics companies began moving to Oregon. As part of their relocation plans, these companies contacted local sheet metal firms. NMI positioned itself through equipment acquisition and employee training to target this new market. Customers such as Hewlett Packard, Tektronix, IBM, Credence and Sun Microsystems generate the majority of NMI s business. The company ships products to locations throughout the Northwest as well as California, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, New York, Mexico, Europe and Asia. The company s products include mainframe server cabinets, mid-range computer cabinets, electronic test and measurement chassis, assemblies, internal components, clean room air handling structures, high end test cabinets (large and mid-range) for wafer, chip and board test equipment, thin gauge shields, desk side disc storage cabinets, peripheral device stands, mass storage cabs, medical beds and cabinets, telecommunications rack mount chassis, cell site aluminum telecommunication cabinets--multiple configurations and amusement chassis.
