The Pepper, as my family now calls it, offers home cooked tasting food that you just don't get. If you haven't tried their country fried steak, you haven't tried the best, Yet! The people are great and so is the food. If you haven't tried it you are missing out!

Yummy, yummy, yummy! This is the best place for a shrimp platter for miles. The hush puppies were simply delicious. Even my husband made a comment about how much he liked them. The food is great and the owner is so courteous and friendly that you feel like your eating at an old friend's house. I also have to mention how incredibly clean this place is kept. Kudos to the food, workers and the whole place! Also being an animal lover I have to say I was touched by the name and the story behind it. Go eat and have a pleasant time here. Keep up he good work Howling Pepper!

First of all, I love the website (check it out before you go) and the history and the background and sentiment behind the restaurant and the friendly feel of both the website and the restaurant itself . I also love that many of the dishes that are served there are family recipes and have been perfected over the years. It's great place to order food for pick-up on the way home or to go and hang out and eat well and catch some TV and chill out. Everyone is nice, and it's got a relaxing vibe.I have personally, so far, had the Fried Pickles (could eat them for a meal), the Fried Okra (yummy), the Estaletta (a must have), and the Pepper Burger (if you need a burger fix, get this). I've also tasted the Cuban (unique and interesting and tasty) and the Cajun Burger (also good for a burger fix). Additionally, I was able to wash everything down with a few brewskies. My goal is to try everything on the menu, and, as you can see, I'm well on my way. As Arnold says "I'll be back ..."

I have tried many menu items and have enjoyed them all. I do recommend visiting the poboy shop if you are looking for good food at reasonable prices. I would check out the website at (thehowlingpepper.com)
The Howling Pepper is a great little sandwich (po-boy) and deli shop in St. Rose, Louisiana - about a 10 minute drive past the New Orleans International Airport, heading away from the City of New Orleans. The food is fabulous and the owners (Eddie and Patricia) are fantastic, very friendly, and very good people. Check out their website at (thehowlingpepper.com) to see the menu. I currently live out of town but visited recently and made a special trip to St. Rose twice in a matter of three days. My friends and I had the fried pickles, meat pie and boudin balls for appetizers and loved them all. If you like the mufaletta, you have to trty the Estaletta. It's great! I also tried the Jumba (po-boy made of meats typically found in jumbalaya), the Cajun Burger and the shrimp and oysters. Everything I tried was very good. I recommend you try it. I really think you will like this place!
