- Dental ExaminationRecently researchers have found correlations between periodontal disease and heart disease. Periodontal disease can occur at any age. Over half of all people over the age of 18 have some form of the disease. After age 35, over 75% of all people are affected. Unfortunately, the disease process is usually asymptomatic and painless. The disease can be easily detected during regular dental examinations.
- X-rays
- Oral Cancer ScreeningOn your first visit, we begin our comprehensive evaluation with a complete series of digital X-rays. Dr. Martinez will then perform a thorough examination of your teeth while checking for decay, evaluate the gums and surrounding structures using magnification and an intra-oral camera. An oral cancer screening will also be done to detect any suspicious areas in the oral cavity. Our patients say it is the most complete examination they've ever received! Dr. Martinez will also evaluate your smile and discuss ways you could change discolored, misshapen or misaligned teeth. You will then be presented with a clear, easy to understand plan for achieving a sound state of oral health as well as a beautiful smile.
- Teeth CleaningProphylaxis, which is preformed by a licensed dental hygienist, removes plaque and tartar from the teeth. This makes the gums and teeth healthier. A proper exam is necessary prior to teeth cleaning to ensure that periodontal disease does not go undetected. Periodontal Disease is a bacterial infection of the gums, bone and ligaments that support the teeth and anchor them in the jaw. The bacteria are normal inhabitants of the mouth and form a film of dental plaque and calculus (tartar) which stick to the teeth. The bacteria produce poisonous toxins which stimulate the immune response to fight the infection. If the disease process is not stopped, the supporting structures of the teeth will continue to be destroyed. This eventually leads to tooth loss.
- Fillings
- VeneersVeneers are custom-made, thin ceramic shells that are placed on the front of teeth using a very strong adhesive. They can be used to correct and treat a variety of dental conditions including discolored teeth, crooked teeth, chips, cracks, and wear. Because they are made specifically for you, veneers look and feel natural, giving you a whiter, straighter, and attractive smile.
- CrownsBefore you get started, your dentist will determine if CEREC® is right for you. Depending on how much healthy tooth structure you have remaining, it may be a simple filling or you may need a crown. After reviewing your options, the dentist will begin the process by administering anesthetic and preparing your tooth for restoration by removing decay and weakened tooth tissue.
- BridgesBridges are all-ceramic restorations that span the space created by a missing tooth and are held into place by two crowns, one on each tooth on either side of the space. Not only do dental bridges fill the space left by a missing tooth, but they also help maintain the position of your other teeth, enhance the look of your smile, and make it easier to eat the foods you love.
