Cowern Elementary School houses more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers academic programs in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and technology education. The school additionally conducts art, vocal music, and health and physical education classes. Cowern Elementary School also offers Title 1, English as a Second Language, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) and special education programs. Its staff is comprised of psychologists, social workers, subject teachers and occupational therapists. The school offers a variety of after-school activities. Cowern Elementary School operates a habitat club that includes studies of plants, birds and wildlife. Its media center features books, magazines, pictures, filmstrips, records, tapes, cassettes, computers and printers. The school is located in St. Paul, Minn., and is a part of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District.
