Established in 1901, the St. Michaels Fire Department offers a range of rescue services. It is a nonprofit organization that serves a population of more than 8,000 citizens and tourists in St. Michaels in Maryland. The department responds to over 900 ambulance, rescue and fire calls each year. Its equipment includes a boat, command vehicle, pumper tanker, fire engines, and ladder and brush trucks. The department maintains a fire station that features a meeting room. It also stocks tools that can cut through wood, concrete and metals. The department has lifting, pulling and emergency extrication equipment. The St. Michaels Fire Department organizes Fireman s Carnival, which is a fundraising event.
