General Info

The author is an award-winning journalist who held senior positions at the Miami Herald, the Washington Star, and Newsday. During his 20 years at Newsday, the newspaper won 11 Pulitzer Prizes, including the spot news award for the crash of TWA Flight 800 off the Long Island coast. When he left Newsday in 2001, he was vice president and managing editor/operations. He is a past chairman of the board of directors of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. in Smithtown, Long Island, New York. He is an entertaining public speaker who has represented Newsday and the Guide Dog Foundation in speaking engagements many times. He lives with his wife and two golden retrievers, Savannah and Boomer T. Bailey, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
