  For over 18 years, Maureen T. Coffey, Esq. was the Municipal Court Judge for the Town of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. As such she is well versed in all things criminal law. However, a driving force in her decision to return to private practice has been her desire to develop a practice to help immigrants and those who have been injured or discriminated against.

  Maureen is also the founder of the WeSaidYes app, which is an affirmative consent app that she developed to help reduce the number of sexual assaults taking place on college campuses through documented informed affirmative consent.

  She has long held a passion for helping those who cannot help themselves. In the late 90’s Maureen co-founded the Low Country Legal Clinic, which offered legal aid in the area of domestic relations to those who could not otherwise afford legal counsel. Prior to becoming a judge, Maureen handled immigration matters, all aspects of family law matters, as well as personal injury/civil litigation matters.
