MECS has been a leader in the design and construction of sulfuric acid plants for more than 75 years, with over 800 plants built in 56 countries throughout the world. It offers technologies for nitric acid and urea plants. Acid plant products and services include catalysts, SO2 abatement, acid coolers, heat exchangers, acid piping systems, tanks and towers, mist eliminators and corrosion resistant alloys. MECS is also a leading expert in air pollution control technologies, specializing in gas cleaning and indoor oil mist collection. MECS can fulfill the total engineering and procurement needs for any project. In the United States, its full-service construction subsidiary, Leonard Construction Company, can fill this role. Leonard Construction has been affiliated with the company for over 65 years. MECS, formerly known as Monsanto Enviro-Chem Systems, is located in St. Louis.
