Founded in 1995, Community Alternatives is a nonprofit provider of a range of mental health care services. It offers various outreach services for homeless people, such as temporary housing, short-term therapies, triage and referral and interim case management. The organization also offers an assertive community treatment to individuals with mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. Community Alternatives' teams are staffed with specialists from various fields, including psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, employment and social work. It also provides home and community care, psycotherapies, physician consultations, practical psychosocial assistance and wellness interventions to people suffering from AIDS.
